About

Bach Meets Jazz quartet was founded in summer 2018 in a small town of Dobřany near Pilsen.

Neither the Baroque music period nor the great composer himself Johann Sebastian Bach were the only inspiration. It was also Richard Stolzmann, a jazz clarinetist, who has adapted Bach’s most famous works mainly for clarinet and accompanying instruments.

The very first concert of “Bach Meets Jazz” took place in June 2018 in the Church of St. Nicholas in Dobřany. The event, called “Bach of many faces”, was the seventh benefit concert to support the construction of a new organ in Dobřany.

Most of the musical arrangements are set in a jazz style, the majority of them being original Latin-American rhythms (Samba, Salsa, Rumba), but other musical styles, such as Tango, Soul, Gospel, and Funk can be heard as well.
