Tomáš Impellizzeri
Growing up in Dobřany near Pilsen, he learned to play the piano under the leadership of J. Vozár. He did not finish any of the four conservatories he attended because of the absurd school system. Instead of theory, he devoted his effort to became an active and accomplished musician, humble to all musical genres. He is now actively engaged in music production at a variety of places and occasions. At the time of his studies, he lived in Prague. However, later he left for North Bohemia because of the capital’s hectic and accelerated way of life.
As the first person in the history of Dobřany Art School, he won first place in the regional round of the piano competition in 2005. He was also awarded the 2015 Pianist of the Year, chaired by the composer, arranger, and pianist Petr Malásek.
Now you can hear Tomas playing regularly in the Municipal House Café in Prague´s center, where he plays with his trio. He is an alternating pianist in the professional band Jazzika. He is mainly engaged in solo playing and his repertoire is focused on Czech songs of the 20th-21st century (Jiří Malásek, Karel
Gott, Karel Svoboda…), evergreens, traditional pop, and jazz standards (Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Barbra Streisand, Irving Berlin, etc.).
